Tidal Energy - What Is It?

Tidal Energy is a form of renewable energy which is powered by the spinning of turbines, powered by the kinetic energy in moving water.

The biggest benefit of this kind of energy is that it is renewable, meaning it does not go away when it is used. It also does not emit carbon dioxide, has a large energy output, and plants can be built in a way that nobody sees it above the water (as it is built underwater most of the time).

As there are lots of positives, there are some negatives as well. There are not a lot of places to put these plants, as they can only be in specific areas (mostly along a coastline). These plants also cause a very high energy demand, with all of the equipment being used. Animals may also accidentally swim into the blades, resulting in serious injury or even death.

In conclusion, tidal energy is a very effecient way of harnessing energy. It has a lot of benefits, however as well as some drawbacks. In the end, if it is done the right way and in a safely manner, the world can greatly benefit from it.
