3.04 Central and South American Legacies and Contributions

I would like to live in the Mayan civilization. It started around 250 A.D. when an Olmec-influenced society in Mesoamerica began to significantly grow. In what is known as the "Mayan Classic Period," which took from 25o to 900 A.D., the civilization was in Mexico, Guatemala, and northern Belize. It was a very big civilization, with many magnificent structures (such as pyramids and temples). The civilization was very thriving and technologically advanced for the time in which it existed. It still has it's influences to this day as well, with many people still living in the Yucatan that speak over 70 Mayan languages.

I wouldn't want to live in the other two civilizations, Aztec and Inca, because they just weren't like the Mayan civilization. The Mayan civilization lasted much longer than the other two, and on top of that the Mayan civilization was much bigger than the other two. Another thing is that the Mayans were more peaceful than the other two. The Aztecs were always sacrificing people, and the Incas were always fighting against other people. I would want to be in the more peaceful civilization, where I could live out my life without any trouble.
