8.07 Invisible Warfare

For my "quilt" I used four basic images that represent 9/11 in America. The first image you see is the Twin Towers untouched, representing how things were normal. Then the next one is the towers being hit, which represents the trouble. The next image shows U.S. flags, which represents the patriotism people showed afterwards, ending with the One World Trade Center tower representing us rising from the ashes. Overall, it shows that in the end, we can go through a problem, as rise through it together as a country. Over the years, the United States has done a really good job of showing that to the world.
Terrorism is different than other forms of warfare because it's not where two sides are facing off against each other, like we saw in the World Wars. In this instance, it is more of a group/entity attacking in a way that is not obvious. In a war, everyone knows what is going on. Here, there can be times when nobody knows what is happening and what is going to happen in the future. In terms of responses by the United States and the rest of the world, security sure has changed a lot. For example, I lived right by the U.S. Army War College (located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania). Before 9/11, you could drive/walk right into the base. However now you have to go through security, and they only let authorized people in now. This is the same all over the world, people have changed the way they look at security, and are taking steps to increase it significantly.
